5 Things to Know Before Your First Heated Fitness Class at CKS in Sheldon, Iowa

So, you’re thinking about stepping into your first class at Crystallyn Kay’s Studio—YES!

First off, let me say: I’m proud of you already. Walking through that door for the first time takes courage, and that’s something to celebrate. Whether you're brand new to movement or just haven’t worked out in a while, this post is your inside scoop on what to expect, what to bring, and why our space is built differently—on purpose.

I created CKS not just to sweat (although we do that too!)—but to hold space for people to rise, reset, and reconnect with themselves. You don’t need to “be in shape” to show up. You just need to show up.

Let’s dive in...

1. What to Wear

You’ll want breathable, sweat-wicking gear that lets you move. Think tank tops, supportive sports bras, and stretchy shorts or leggings that you don’t have to constantly adjust. We keep it hot and heart-pumping, so comfort is key. This isn’t a fashion show—it’s about showing up and getting strong, confident, and connected in your body.

My personal go-to? A cropped tank, high-rise leggings, and a hair tie that can handle the heat.

2. What to Bring

Here’s what you’ll want in your bag:

  • A water bottle (fill it with ice!)

  • A sweat towel — trust me, you’ll use it

  • A yoga mat — bring your own if you have one, but no worries if not, we’ve got extras you can use

  • No shoes required! We work barefoot in the studio (there’s a room to leave your shoes before class)

  • And most importantly… bring an open heart and a “let’s do this” mindset

Whether you modify every movement or go full-out, just showing up is a power move.

3. What the Vibe Is Like

Picture this: a dark room, neon lights, empowering beats, and an atmosphere where everyone is too focused on their own growth to judge yours. The room is warm (heated to about 90°), the music is loud, and the energy? Electric.

You’ll be surrounded by women of all backgrounds, ages, and fitness levels— men & women cheering each other on, pushing through hard reps, and leaving stronger than we came.

We don’t do intimidation here. We do inspiration.

5. Why CKS Is Different

At Crystallyn Kay’s Studio, we don’t just work out—we work on ourselves.

This is a space where people are celebrated at every stage of their journey. We’ve had brand new parents, retirees, athletes, beginners, and individuals returning to movement after years—all showing up side by side.

No pressure. No comparison. Just authentic support, real connection, and space to grow.

My mission has always been to help people feel powerful in their bodies again—on and off the mat. And this studio is an extension of that belief.
